Florida’s year-round sun and warmth is what makes it the ideal getaway no matter what time of year you’re looking to get away. It also means virtually pristine weather and conditions, even for your fall and Halloween holiday. You’ll enjoy time on the beach, whether it’s a leisurely stroll on the beach or you’re setting up for a day of basking in the sun and working and your tan or water activities in the shimmering waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Don’t forget to check out the many local fall and Halloween events as part of your Florida fall fun.

Pumpkin Patch Opening

What better way to celebrate fall and Halloween in 30A than at a pumpkin patch opening? If you’re here in early October, you’ll be able to do just that. The patch at Camp Helen State Park opens to a festival full of fun like a straw maze, trail bingo, kayak and SUP rentals, scarecrow row and much more. After the opening, come back any day of the week to pick your pumpkin – all the way up to October 31, or until supplies run out. Visit the patch from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays for hay rides, games, contests, music, crafts, and more. Bring your blankets, chairs, and picnic and settle in on October 23 at 6:30 for a showing of Hocus Pocus. The movie starts at sunset and is free to the public. The grand opening festival is Saturday, October 2 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Witch Ride

The towns along scenic 30A can always be accessed by car, but a walk or bike ride is a fun way to see each locale and get a little exercise while you’re at it. Take part in the annual Witch Ride and put your pedals to work for a cause. The Witches of South Walton are hosting the events on Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30. Participate in the traditional Founders Ride from 7-8 a.m. or Bluewater Ride from 8-9 a.m. on October 29 with the Gathering Brunch to follow. Hop on your bike for the Sunset Ride from 5:30-6:15 p.m. or new Watersound Ride 5-6 p.m., also on October 29. Wrap up with the Goblin Ride on the 30th from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. There will also be raffles, a silent auction, and a witch contest to determine which witch is the best. The ride benefits Healthy Happy Kids.

Destin Commons Halloween Haunt

Celebrate Halloween early with a spooky party at Destin Commons shopping center. The event features creepy crafts for the kids, fantasy Halloween face painting, trick-or-treating at participating stores, and a costume contest. Your furry friend is welcome too, so if they made the trip with you dress them in their Halloween best along with the kids. The party is Friday, October 29 from 6-8 p.m.

Trick-or-Treat This Halloween in 30A

On the spookiest night of all – October 31 – dress in your scariest Halloween costume and get ready to yell “trick-or-treat!” Communities along 30A are hosting trick-or-treat fun. Collect treats from 4-6 p.m. at Trick or Treat Seaside, or 6-7:45 p.m. at Trick or Treat Street at Baytowne Warf. Other communities have yet to announce trick or treat events and guidelines.

Farmers Markets

Fall is the perfect time for farmers markets, and the beach towns along 30A are no exception. Most take place on the weekends, but other towns hold theirs during the week. Score fresh produce as well as other fresh and handmade products.

Boos & Booze

This event at Harborwalk Village is Halloween fun adult-style. Put on your spookiest costume and head to Harborwalk for the scariest pub-crawl you can imagine. The night features craft cocktails and good food from Village restaurants, live music, and an adult costume contest at Coyote Ugly to cap off the night. Make a donation to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society and receive your bingo card – featuring spooky drink specials. Complete a row on your card by 9:30 to win raffle prizes. The event takes place Friday, October 29 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Registration for the costume contest starts at 10 p.m.
